According to reports in Florence-based newspaper La Natione, Fiorentina striker Adrian MUtu is suffering from meniscectomy and will have minor surgery to repair the problem.
The decision was made by the medical staff at the Stadio Franchi and the procedure is likely to rule him out of action until nearly the end of the season.

“It was not possible to carry on like this,” Mutu told the Corriere dello Sport upon leaving the stadium.

“We will now finally be able to see the real situation of my left knee. I want to recover as soon as possible and get back into the squad to give them a hand in this vital final rush.

“It was pointless to keep going this way, I want to help out the team and I need to be at my best. I hope you will soon be able to see the real Mutu again.”
