Adrian Mutu was ecstatic after Fiorentina’s 1-0 win over Siena, scoring in the 72nd minute to win the Tuscan derby.

The win means La Viola maintained two-point distance between themselves and Genoa in the battle for fourth place.

“It was an important victory and a massive derby,” said Mutu after the match. “Siena may not be as good as us, but today they played really well and my goal won it in the end.”

The striker then took the opportunity to put some criticism about Fiorentina to rest.

“It’s not true that Fiorentina don’t score unless it’s me or Alberto Gilardino. The team has played better games than this one, but we believed we could win and that belief was rewarded.”
