Mutu return: goal against Udinese
Fiorentina showed just why they are contenders for the Champions League places as they bounced back after going a goal down to Udinede to take maximum points at the Artemio Franchi: Fiorentina – Udinese 4-2 !
Adrian Mutu returned to partner Alberto Gilardino up front while Fabio Quagliarella was on the bench at Udinese following the nosse break he suffered. The first real chance feel to Riccardo Montolivo. The Italian international wriggled free on the edge of the box following good work by Mutu. Montolivo made space for himself and unleashed a decent left foot drive but Samir Handanovic had no trouble saving it.
Antonio Floro Flores scored for visitors in 29 minute. The pressing for the home side paid off as Domizzi fouled Gilardino in the box as he attempted to connect with Mutu’s cross. The ref had no choice but to award a penalty. Mutu stepped up as Prandelli couldn’t bare to watch. The penalty was a-la-Totti as the striker scooped the ball cheekily over Handanovic who dived early. It was a great effort and the all level scoreline meant it was game on.
Montolivo, who was outstanding on the night, grabbed two goals for La Viola and in final Di Natale scored for Udinese from penalty.
