The good news was that Adrian Mutu had recovered in time for this match and started alongside Giampaolo Pazzini up front. Siena couch Marco Giampaolo had a near full squad available to him and fielded a full strength line-up.

On 18′ Mutu cushioned a haeder down for Pazzini, but the former Atalanta player’s volley was deflected over the bar. On the half hour mark, Mutu headed into the net from Manuel Pasqual’s fine cross, but the Romanian was just offside and the scores remained 0-0. Fiorentina then tried the same trick again, with Mutu heading down to Pazzini, but this time the volley was well over the crossbar.

On 66 minutes, Prandelli replaced the infuential Mutu with youngster Stevan Jovetic as the Romanian was not  compeltely over his knee injury and could not last the entire match. Kharja score with a header from a corner in 75′ minute and Siena won 1-0.
