Fiorentina are up into second in the table after an eye-catching 3-1 win away to Palermo, with Adrian Mutu scoring twice. Fiorentina took the lead on 20 minutes when Alberto Gilardino scored from close range following Mario Santana’s cross. Gilardino was the provider for the visitor’s second on 42 minutes when he played in Mutu to score. Fabio Simplicio pulled one back from close range for Palermo on 50 minutes before Mutu added his second of the match just after the hour when turning home Gianluca Comotto’s cross.
