Bayern Munich captain Marl van Bommel said ‘We were lucky’. Miroslav Klose and Bastian Schweinsteiger struck in the first half before Ze Roberto added a late third at the Futbal Arena in Munich. After Klose’s fourth-minute oppener, Bayern’s Michael Rensing was the busier of the two goalkeepers, producing a flying save to turn aside an Adrian Mutu shot before enjoying a stroke of luck as Riccardo Montolivo and Alberto Gilardino both went close either side of Schweinsteinger’s 25th-minute strike. Rensing also denied Felipe, and Mutu wasted a chance late in the second half befote Ze Roberto’s effort in the final minute gave the result a flattering gloss.
